Question #4:
What can we do better together than alone and what formal structure will make that happen?
(Discussion and Sharing)

All schools choose a common goal and work to that formation...field of compassion

Develop international common goal
Partner with another school internationally - learning more about SH aruond the world by working with individual partner schools
Ideas of service internationally with a partner

Information about all schools (SOFIE)

Video collaboration with information about each school

Amien meeting -- Joigny Heads meeting -- Chapter 2000 proposed a main portal to develop this information and to solve the communication issues

Some countries have a Network...provide communication with basic information to share -- websites that connect

SOFIE posted database -- definition of a SH School is different and broad

The SH Schools as an identified ministry must carry out the connectivity

Papalotzin (Mexico) - a beginning but phased out in its operation

Infrastructure issues for all different countries

Information needed is basic -- Head of Schools, e-mail, addresses, main contacts for different constiuencies

SOFIE to update with links to the AUS/NZ and European sites
Do you lose too much in institutional memory by meeting only every four (4) years? Area of discussion is frequency of meeting, commitment to action.
Planning takes time:
Learning languages
Facilities and structure (used government grants and funding)
Thinking of different models (sending talk out via Internet and then conversations through Skype) IE: Feast of Mater -- meet around a keynote address, use video conferencing, discussion board to discuss)

Consistent processes for international exchange -- (SOFIE -- Network websites) to porvide consistent connection

Structure action:

-Each Network explain what exchange looks like and make the connection and consistent information
-Embed links to different exchange sites for all Network exchanges -- link to each school's exchange information
-Websites from Regions should reflect the individuality of each country or region (major step forward) (Some schools are not Network. IE: Canada)
-Check CEDC for assistance (?)
-Unique icon
-Categories
------formation of faculty, staff, students, Board, parents
------lesson plans
------best practices
------translation (English first, then practice with languages) -- Agree ??

Used for global issues/connectivity and does not replace other resources from other Networks

-Categories listed (school name, school head, e-mail, etc.)
-----School name
-----School Head
-----e-mail
-----website

-Communicate with Provincials on how to accomplish connection if there is no RSCJ on campus

School website -> Network website -> Regional website

Task force developed to contribute to SOFIE and redevelop

-------GOOD translation from native speakers would edit corrections in language

How can information be sent to schools and Networks who are not in attendance at meetings and conferences?

We look to the "Mother House" for help in this communication to everyone.

Reach out to Latin America and we should use our connections to express what is happening and connecting.

Role of central administration is critical -- fate of our institutions is at stake -- we HAVE to insure the misison is alove and well by more encouragement -- Ii IS ABOUT THE SOCIETY AND ITS CHARISM

Central Team can push the Provincials....develop participants in meetings and conferences (Look at letter -- Madeleine/Suzanne)

Establish a common day of prayer for all our schools -- identify schools in trauma/emergency/danger/etc.

November 21 (Monday) International Day of Prayer (Founding of the Society)

Schools with limited or no access to Internet or webpages - Electricity -- Issue!!!!
Possbile to write and talk throiugh some possible ideas with schools (IE: DR Congo)

One laptop per child (organization) -- iPad distribution

US Network --- Invite schools to host a "bake sale" on Valentine's day to support new school in Haiti

Writing Committee: write up conclusions to the meeting to be sent to each country, continent and add this "project"

Janet Erskine Stuart -- begin 2013 and continuing through 2014

Sacred Heart Competencies -- Next Steps

Conclusion
Propose as action

Take advantage of existence of SOFIE to provide a space where we can exchange important activiites and ideas. Take advantage of existing Networks. Foloows the intentions of the "letters" mentioned by Kathleen Hughes in her keynote talk.

Building communion among us.

Spirit of the Sacred Heart is deeply and incredibly shared including RSCJ and educators of the Sacred Heart. We WANT to animate the spirit of SH and "update" the letter, then urge the Central Team to understand how important to help us know what is going on.

1. Grass Roots (know people who are not here and reach out)
2. Networks (taking advantage of existing relationships)
3. Central Team (only entity that can really animate the entire world-wide SH schools)

How to include Latin America? Those of us who work with Latin America WILL communicate the essence of this meeting.

4. Structure (Suzanne Cooke)
- sofie.org to provide a pace to exchange important ideas
- curriculum projects, exchange, service projects, student leaders, announce programs and conferences
- help those w/o networks to reach out virtually
- international presence to build communion
-- issue with translation
-- propose English as the official language
---- Google translate
- Intimate relationships of Society to/with with the institutions
-- animate the institutions with the spirit of the Sacred Heart
- update letter from Joigny (work of writing committee)
- share with those schools not represented
-- grass roots
-- networks
-- Central Team: only entity that can animate
- generous volunteers
-- Kevin, Hillary, Penny to work with Stephanie via Skype on design for the website
-- links to existing websites
- how to include Latin America
